André Costa (Rio de Janeiro - Brasil, 1989) Lives and works in Lisbon - Portugal.
Graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. Works in the field of painting and installation, his practice is based on the idea of the painting as an aesthetic experience in itself producing paintings that do not represent, but present themselves as a body/physical object. He explores the role of this painting in space and, thus, its relation with the viewer through a serie of installations called “Experiência Mexível”. This experience leads to a central question of how participation reshapes authorship, responsibility and property once the artwork is understood as a shared surface of action rather than a closed form.
